This one's going back. Problem is, I don't know what to get next. So I am going to try for the Reliable Dreamstitcher. Gosh, after paying a whole lot more for this seemingly professional serger, it started falling apart–literally–after the first few days. The machine vibrates, shakes, rattles–is very difficult to keep steady even after placing it on my heaviest and sturdiest table. Then the upper looper started yanking the thread out of the needles. This one’s going back. Problem is, I don’t know what to get next. So I am going to try for the Reliable Dreamstitcher. We’ll see.

I already have a Brother 1034D, which I absolutely love, as well as a compact/cheap Kenmore model, but I wanted a machine that could do more (cover stitch, etc.). I've been using this machine almost daily for a month, and my observations are: <br/><br/>- Threading takes time but isn't difficult (especially with the tweezers and proper lighting). <br/><br/>- It hasn't broken any needles, skipped stitches, caught the fabric or otherwise misbehaved. <br/><br/>- The automatic tension settings seem to work well and you can manually adjust if needed. <br/><br/>- It is much more quiet than cheaper machines, and feels very sturdy/solid during operation. <br/><br/>- The PDF files on the included CD are numerous and not very easy to comprehend, but the included paper manual is well illustrated and thorough. <br/><br/>- The included set of tools and accessories is very thorough, also has just about every type of presser foot you could need for any project. <br/><br/>Thus far the only thing that disappointed me is that it has no free-arm capability -- which would make things like cuffs, hats and such easier; but that's not a huge problem.
